July was a WHIRLWIND! Can I get an amen for that. I can count on one hand how many days my children have all been home at one time. Maybe it's the fact that the last three weeks I haven't really even been a resident in Paradise. My bed is always delicious when we come home from one adventure or another, but I must say, July has been a month of wonderful fun! We've waterskied on some beautiful waters, eaten some wonderful food, and visited ... ...continue reading
Awesome Granola
I'm camping in the middle of Jackson Lake in Teton National Park and I'm still able to Instagram, blog and check my email. Just think, I could have instant coverage of the bear that comes to our camp. You can live the excitement with us. This is our 7th Summer camping here. The first few years we canoed up String Lake and then portaged to Leigh Lake. It was beautiful, but we had a few to many bear encounters. Now we take the boat to Jackson ... ...continue reading
Galette
This is one quarter of the whole Galette. Just imagine what the entire confection looks like. It's beautiful:)I finally caught a picture of this Spring and Summer's most beloved dessert. We have had it at least four times, and I had not been able to snap a single picture of it until now. James is missing a finger, and Emma is crying in her room since I just ripped into them for almost eating the last living proof of this dessert:) I'm ... ...continue reading
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Tis true! This is my favorite flavor combination in the whole world. There used to be a Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor that highlighted this combination. I'm on a crusade for them to bring it back. It was called Monkey Wrenched, and it was delicious! I guess my occasional purchase of the before mentioned ice cream just didn't cut it for Ben and Jerry's. I think I'll write a letter to the editor the bring it back. I wonder if it will ... ...continue reading
Summer Salsa
So this doesn't have to be just a summer salsa. It's actually really tasty any time of the year, but it just happens to be Summer and I used fresh corn on the cob so I'm callin' it Summer Salsa. I am struggling to cook lately. We have eaten waffles, pancakes, egg on toast, and cereal way to many nights since school got out. I loose the cooking bug this time of year. If I can't just throw it together I don't want to make it. I don't want to ... ...continue reading
Jello Yum Frosting!
I learned this really great song when I was in 3rd grade. It's called the Jello Song and you sing it in a round. "Oh, the big red letters stand for the Jello family............" I've taught it to every girl who I have ever been with, or taken to girls camp. I've been a total of 14 years of my life to girls camp. (That's amazing don't you think!) And I also believe this is the one virtue that made James' mother like me. She absolutely LOVES ... ...continue reading
The Everything Cookie
I've been dreaming of this cookie for a long time. You know when you taste something, and in your mind it was the best thing you've ever tasted, and you try your hardest to recreate it? Well that's what this cookie has been to me. Years ago I was in lovely grocery store (somewhere in SLC) and I purchased a cookie that was called the Everything Cookie. It was so chuck full of all things good, and happy. The cookie itself was an oatmeal based ... ...continue reading
Stuffed Orange French Toast
Here's a little secret. My husband is a baker, we own a bakery, but....................the best French Toast on the planet is made with a cheap loaf of French Bread from your local grocer. I'm talking the loaf that is hot at the check stand at about 4pm and costs a buck. It's perfect for French Toast. My mom used to make it for us as kids, and the trick is to fry the slices in a bit of oil or butter. Extremely low calorie, and low fat I ... ...continue reading
Fruit Pizza
I've done this one before, BUT...........it's so stinking pretty! And tasty! It is the First Day of Freedom as we call it at our home. The first day of Summer Vacation! I LOVE IT! The two oldest had a boating party with loads of fun friends, and Mems requested this fruit pizza. I made the Gingie Snap version, but I'm including the regular Sugar Cookie version as well. Then you can choose, or make one of each. Do what you need to do. It's ... ...continue reading
Horseradish Herb Butter
Horseradish Herb Butter with a few mushrooms. The best steak ever!I have raised 3 large carnivores at my house. When the typical question is asked, "What do you want for dinner?" The largest of the 3 has answered, "Steak!" since he was 2 years old. I think the kid could eat steak for every meal. Throw in a big beautiful salad and my oldest is in heaven! The youngest man child in our home has been known to go on hunting trips with Grandpa ... ...continue reading
