I'm trying out my new mobile app. My brekky on the go! Actually I can't seem to locate my camera so you get the iPhone photo. Since our little get away for Spring Break I'm hooked on this breakfast. My friend R introduced me to this wonderful Kale Hash. We love kale at our home but have limited ourselves to eating it in soup only. Now we eat it a lot. My garden is always bountiful with kale but I'll admit most goes to waste at the end of ... ...continue reading
Strawberry Cream Pie
Spring Break! We have had the most glorious break from school, work, snow..........all those hard things:) But now it's back to real life. I had good intentions of blogging last week, but I'm afraid that went to the wayside as well. Today's recipe is a repeat. I posted it last year, and I think it was by far one of the favorites of the whole year. I make these pies every year for the annual Paradise Lion's Club Easter Egg Hunt. There's a ... ...continue reading
Come Listen
I love to listen. Maybe it's the timing. It's spring. A new beginning. But every six months I get to sit in my home, and listen. It touches my heart every time, and gives me strength, encouragement, and things to work a little harder on. I'm inviting everyone I love to "Come Listen!" Here's a link that will take you right to the live stream. Sun. April 1, 2012 at 10am. ... ...continue reading
Madelienes
Picture straight from my iphone. I love that little phone. It's magic! We felt very French the other day. A few Saturdays ago, our dear little Emma was feeling a little stir crazy. Sometimes she gets that way. This Sat. wasn't filled with skiing, or rock climbing, or playing with friends, and Emma needed to make something. She does that. She'll come into the kitchen and say, "So what can we make delicious today?" Someone is going to be ... ...continue reading
Ham and Cheese Waffles
Oh ya baby! These were AMAZING! This has been a week of pure winners at my home. Usually when I try a new recipe there are probably more losers than winners, but we've had two in a row. Tues. nights are a bit crazy for us. It's most likely the same for most everybody out there. One night a week, everything that could possibly happen occurs on that one night. So Tues. nights are "Eat As Fast As You Can" nights, and "Eat Whatever There Is" ... ...continue reading
Homemade Pizza To Die For
Emma and Jake's pizzas. Em had shaved brussel sprouts on hers and she said it wasamazing!A week or so ago I received my Bon Appetit magazine in the mail. The cover photo struck my fancy right off the bat. It was a picture of a rustic homemade pizza that looked yummy! The caption of the front said something to the effect of, "Make amazing homemade pizza at home with a crust that will know your socks off!" It didn't say the whole "knock your ... ...continue reading
Cini Minis
Another fun Pinterest find. These little Cini Minis were a big hit last Sat. morning at the Clawson home. They whipped up pretty fast, and even when I realized I didn't have powdered sugar to make a glaze to douse them in, they still tasted lovely. I've been told by a very good source though, that if you put enough butter and cinnamon sugar on something, it will taste good. He was referring to yams, and squash, but I think his, are words to ... ...continue reading
Winter Citrus Salad
Tis the time of year for citrus. We're working on our 7th case of oranges since Christmas. Did you get that? 7- 40 lb. cases. That's a ton of oranges, and we have loved every single one. Most have been eaten in the form of a carrot-orange-apple-spinach juice most days, but there have been a lot of salads topped with oranges as well. Last weekend my granny brought this Winter Citrus salad to a family gathering and I was smitten. So simple ... ...continue reading
Roasted Pears For Brekky
We just returned from the annual Great Harvest convention this last week. It was in beautiful, warm San Diego. We just didn't see the warm part:) Most of the time we were there, there was a winter storm warming. The weather was cold, and rainy, but still, California is always warmer than Utah no matter how you cut it. Jimmy wore his puffy coat to the airport, and planned to just pack it up in his bag for the rest of the trip. Let me tell ... ...continue reading
Shaved Brussel Sprouts (with bacon, avocado, and lemon I might add.)
*Disclaimer- I took these little Brussels down to a family gathering yesterday and here are some of the responses. On the way down my Jimmy confessed he didn't like them. My dad wouldn't even try them. My mom and Granny both loved them, and my brother Josh admitted to brussel sprouts being his least favorite food of all time BUT............he said they were tasty. So let's see where you fit in. Again for the record, me, Emma, and Seth love ... ...continue reading
