This is a delicious soup. My mom loves this soup. I found this recipe YEARS ago in a Martha Stewart Living Mag. I've changed it up quite a bit to suit my tastes. It is so simple, yet has such a great flavor. I made this a few weeks ago with the last of my cherry tomatoes from the garden. They actually lasted into the first part of Nov. It's always such a treat to eat homegrown tomatoes through Nov. Don't think that roasting tomatoes is a ... ...continue reading
The Sam’s Ham Sammie
The Great Harvest bakery question I probably get asked the most is, "Who came up with your sandwich ideas?" And honestly I can say..............ME! Actually my sister, my mom, my dad, cousins, brothers and lots of other places. I get inspiration from everywhere. Our best selling sandwich, The Swede Turkey Pesto, was and idea from my sister Hollie, and my brother Marc and his wife Susan. We had a Clawson Gourmet Night years ago to try out ... ...continue reading
Pretzel Rolls
*I made a pretty tasty sandwich with these rolls last night and I'll post that recipe Monday morning. You're going to love it!! As a kid, I remember driving home from some sort of family gathering with the whole family in the car. I had a bag of M&M's in my hand. Just the plain chocolate kind. I remember reading the ingredients on the back of the package and thinking to myself, "I could totally make some of these!" I really thought I could. ... ...continue reading
Chicken Chowder
I can't believe I have never posted this recipe here. Honestly, this is probably my favorite meal my mom made when I was growing up. She would make this chowder and a big pan of breadsticks and we children would be in heaven. One really great thing about this soup is that it is always a big hit, no matter where you take it, or who you serve it to. Not like Clam Chowder where some people aren't clam lovers. Everyone will eat chicken, and this ... ...continue reading
Pumpkin Pie (Made with a real pumpkin!)
Those little pumpkins are the one's I roasted to make these pies. They're perfectly sized. And just so you know. Those pumpkins and wheat stalks are the extent of my fall decorating:)*Just a quick note here. My pumpkin pie post was linked to, from the Gourmet Live blog! I'm flattered:)I have a weakness. I love walking through Costco! I especially love walking through Costco around late Sept. early Oct. and spying the enormous Pumpkin Pies ... ...continue reading
Lindi’s Famous Chocolate Sheet Cake
I have a lot of fabulous cooks in my family! And I love each one of them and especially when they share. Which they always do:) My cousin Lindi makes a delicious Chocolate Sheet Cake that she is asked to bring to almost all family get togethers. I caught her the other day coming out of church and asked for this recipe. And of course she obliged. And of course I ran right home and made it. The kids looked at it with longing eyes thinking it ... ...continue reading
Bean Ham and Kale Soup
I remember as a teenager having to give a church talk one Sunday about prayer. I told a story of when I was 14 years old and my dad had taken me on a long road trip through Colorado. That's actually when I learned to drive. I drove for hours and hours on that road trip and learned all about kissing, or actually NOT kissing, and boys, and Choosing the Right. It was a great trip. On the way home though we travelled through some pretty rough ... ...continue reading
Peshwari or Sweet Naan
I missed my boys last week. They headed out early Weds. morning in search of "food storage". Hunting birds with grandpa and Uncle Eric is always a favorite thing for my boys. There's a lot of driving involved, and a lot of talking, joking, movie watching, and walking their guts out. The results of a houseful of boys hunting, is a handful of girls left home, on their own, with cooking on their minds. Emma has got the bug. She loves to ... ...continue reading
