These are one of those wonderful little yummy things that you sometimes discover while traveling. A few years ago we had a HUGE layover in Atlanta on our way to Jamaica with some friends. We had taken the red eye out of SLC to Atlanta so we could catch the early flight out to Jamaica. Anyways, since nothing was open yet in the airport, and sleep isn't really an option in an airport, we decided to take the subway into the city. We had hours to ... ...continue reading
I Sew!
I know most of you that know me well are shocked! But truly I did this! Ain't it cute!I'm sure my sewing teacher from NOJH is rolling over in her grave. I admit to not loving sewing, but something has bit me and I think I might just like it. A few years ago I went with a friend for the day to the local quilting/sewing guru. Paradise may be a small little town, but we really do have a sewing expert here. She does fabulous work and is kind ... ...continue reading
New Year Traditions
What would New Years Day be without the 1.2 mile sledding hill? I tell you what. It would be dull. I don't know what the rest of the world does on New Years Day, but your welcome to come next year to our outing. Just make sure you bring your own Radio Flyer because we don't share! This year there were two other groups who were sledding as well. They weren't kids though. I've never seen grown men fly down a hill faster except on the luge at ... ...continue reading
The Favorite Christmas Popcorn
You don't have this at your house. I'm sure of it because I never had it until I became a Clawson. It is the best stinking popcorn around. It's not one of those super easy recipes, and you have to have a candy thermometer, but what a better reason to go buy one! I take every opportunity I can to visit Kitchen Kneads here in Logan, and peruse the aisles of their kitchen fantasy land. It is lovely. My last visit.........I walked out of there ... ...continue reading
Emma’s Holiday Treats
I had to post some of the fun treats that Emma made this Christmas season. She's turning into such a good little cook. Way better than I ever imagined being at her age. Let alone when I was 25! She's been my little lifesaver with my morning sickness blues the last few months. I don't even look at food porn when I have morning sickness. I have stacks of food magazines that I just couldn't even stomach looking at a few months back. I've got ... ...continue reading
My Name Is Lisa and My Husband Owns A Bakery But……………
I love to bake!! I love it! I love to bake bread. I probably should just leave it up to James. He does make the most incredible stuff around, but I love making it at home. There is no better smell than bread in the oven. James loves it when I bake, and so do my kids. The red-head could eat a whole loaf of Banana Bread or Zuchinni Bread in one sitting, and the oldest loves a hot loaf of White Bread right after school. I have a lot of ... ...continue reading
Christmas Trifle
We love trifle at our house. I've had it as my birthday cake for my entire life. I do remember getting a banana bread birthday cake when I was 8. It had whipped cream frosting and I thought it was delicious, but all the other 8 year old party goers didn't like it much. I wonder if they would have liked trifle better:) So other than that year, trifle has been my birthday "cake" of choice. I have to admit the reason I have a raspberry patch ... ...continue reading
Have A Holly Jolly Christmas
I love the song "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas". Every year as a kid in elementary we would spend each morning the week before Christmas with the whole school singing Christmas carols. It was awesome. If you didn't have the Christmas spirit before that week you indeed had it now. My sister hated the above mentioned song though. Probably because all the kids her age would insert the words, "Have a Hollie Garner Christmas". She hated it, but I ... ...continue reading
Male or Female?
*Warning this may be a little scandalous for those of you with tender hearts, but you'll probably be the ones who get the biggest kick out of it. You know who you are! Those who are so good, but deep down inside you like a little sassiness. This post is for you!*So what is it male or female? Which would you prefer? I know I always go for the males if given a choice. Years ago when my Jimmy worked at the Great Harvest Bread on 25th St. in ... ...continue reading
The Circle of Life
The circle of life continues today. I'm am attending my second official DUP meeting. I am officially a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. It's true! I signed up. I even tried to recruit a friend but she in her kindest of rejection voices pretty much told me Heck no! Oh well, I go alone with all of my fellow DUPPERS. Actually it is quite fun. Interesting too. For years I have been one of a few ladies in Paradise that put on a monthly ... ...continue reading
