So breakfast they say, is the most important meal of the day. I could probably eat breakfast foods for every meal of my day. Let's say waffles for brekky, egg on toast for lunch, and french toast for din- din. That would be an ideal day in my book. Granted there would have to be lots of fresh berries, some whipping cream, and a fresh squeezed juice. Maybe one day this week I'll try this:) We could mix it up a bit with some Huevos Rancheros, ... ...continue reading
Cake Mix Sugar Cookies
Who doesn't love sugar cookies? I'll bet you not a single person would raise their hand to this question. I don't know a person alive who doesn't love these. I think it's the sprinkles, and the fun colored frosting. It just makes a person smile. There are certain times of the year that sugar cookies are mandatory. I think those times include: Valentines, Christmas, and Halloween for sure. At the bakery we sell tons of sugar cookies during ... ...continue reading
Homemade Udon Noodles
I love noodles. And I love soup. I love going to Happy Sushi and getting a big steamy bowl of Tempura Udon. I crave it. I want it all the time. Even in the summer when it's hot, I could eat that big bowl of Udon Noodles and enjoy every bite. I dated a boy in college who had served a LDS mission to Japan and he loved to take me out for lunch to his favorite little Japanese joint. We went at least once a week and sometimes twice. Thanks to ... ...continue reading
Chicken Sticky Finger Salad
I have a testimony of Pinterest. Can I say that? I just did, and it is true. Pinterest has been such a great site to find loads of inspiration for cooking, and all sorts of other things. I have actually done a few minor crafty things lately. I don't craft at all. I'm not crafty, and I usually don't love it, but I've found some simple little things to make that have just made me smile. I've seen this Sticky Finger recipe a few different ... ...continue reading
Lemon Meringue Pie
My Jimmy's birthday was this last week. He's old. But you know I'm a sucker for older folks, and I will make anything he wants. I really wanted to make him a Chocolate Cream Cake, but we both decided we needed something a little smaller that could be consumed in one sitting, and not linger around temping us for days. Jimmy loves lemon. Lemon bars are his favorite, and he loves pudding-y things too. Lemon Meringue Pie was the answer. I ... ...continue reading
Sour Cream Chicken
This chicken is my favorite. I love it, and I can't believe I haven't shared it yet. Super old standby, but one that never fails. My mom and grandma used to make this when I was a kid. We'd eat it for Sunday dinner, one year for Christmas dinner, and my personal favorite was served cold on a picnic. One summer evening my family and I went to the Sundance Summer Plays up Provo canyon. We were with another family. Another family with a lot of ... ...continue reading
Maddox Rolls
Living about 15 minutes away from Maddox growing up was always a good thing. For those of you who don't have a clue what Maddox is...........I'm sorry. Come visit and I'll take you there. I will even buy your Turkey Steak for you if you will really come:) We didn't go out to eat a whole lot as kids, but birthdays were always very special occasions. The birthday person would pick their restaurant of choice and we'd be off. I always picked ... ...continue reading
Orange Marmalade
I love that during the cold dreary months of winter there is always a bright, cheery, beautiful fruit season going on somewhere in the world. I love the fact that oranges, grapefruit, lemons and limes are all readily available. I can get them at any grocery store. They are beautiful glowing orbs that make me smile. Big smiles here:) We have gone through 4- 40 lb. cases of oranges since Christmas. True story. I got a juicer for my birthday, ... ...continue reading
Chicken Enchilada Pasta
It was pretty darn tasty! Really it was. The pasta bake was made in honor of a neighbor who just delivered her 12th baby! Twelve! And she's still alive, and doing well. Cute little nub of a baby. Perfectly round little baby cheeks, and lots of dark hair. She was being adored by lots of brothers and sisters the day I visited. They all had huge smiles of pride over their new baby sister. I'd say she was downright beautiful:) And lucky ... ...continue reading
Sugar Spice Pecans
I love these nuts! I think I love all nuts these days. They've become my candy. The stuff I could snack on all day long. Wasabi Soy Almonds, Raw Almonds, Cashews, Smoked Almonds, my neighbor Colette's Spicy Bar Nuts (I will post that recipe one day), my mom's Cinnamon Pecans, and these Sugar Spice Pecans! They're all delightful, and good for you..........in moderation. I don't think eating the whole pan is good for you, but in a salad all ... ...continue reading
