Ham and Cheese Waffles

March 22, 2012 By: Lisa2 Comments

Oh ya baby!  These were AMAZING!  This has been a week of pure winners at my home.  Usually when I try a new recipe there are probably more losers than winners, but we've had two in a row.  Tues. nights are a bit crazy for us.  It's most likely the same for most everybody out there.  One night a week, everything that could possibly happen occurs on that one night.  So Tues. nights are "Eat As Fast As You Can" nights, and "Eat Whatever There Is" ... ...continue reading

Homemade Pizza To Die For

March 19, 2012 By: Lisa2 Comments

Emma and Jake's pizzas.  Em had shaved brussel sprouts on hers and she said it wasamazing!A week or so ago I received my Bon Appetit magazine in the mail.  The cover photo struck my fancy right off the bat.  It was a picture of a rustic homemade pizza that looked yummy!  The caption of the front said something to the effect of, "Make amazing homemade pizza at home with a crust that will know your socks off!"  It didn't say the whole "knock your ... ...continue reading

Shaved Brussel Sprouts (with bacon, avocado, and lemon I might add.)

March 5, 2012 By: Lisa2 Comments

*Disclaimer-  I took these little Brussels down to a family gathering yesterday and here are some of the responses.  On the way down my Jimmy confessed he didn't like them.  My dad wouldn't even try them.   My mom and Granny both loved them, and my brother Josh admitted to brussel sprouts being his least favorite food of all time BUT............he said they were tasty.  So let's see where you fit in.  Again for the record, me, Emma, and Seth love ... ...continue reading

Homemade Udon Noodles

February 23, 2012 By: Lisa1 Comment

I love noodles.  And I love soup.  I love going to Happy Sushi and getting a big steamy bowl of Tempura Udon.  I crave it.  I want it all the time.  Even in the summer when it's hot, I could eat that big bowl of Udon Noodles and enjoy every bite.  I dated a boy in college who had served a LDS mission to Japan and he loved to take me out for lunch to his favorite little Japanese joint.  We went at least once a week and sometimes twice.  Thanks to ... ...continue reading

Chicken Sticky Finger Salad

February 20, 2012 By: Lisacomment

I have a testimony of Pinterest.  Can I say that?  I just did, and it is true.  Pinterest has been such a great site to find loads of inspiration for cooking, and all sorts of other things.   I have actually done a few minor crafty things lately.   I don't craft at all.  I'm not crafty,  and I usually don't love it, but I've found some simple little things to make that have just made me smile.  I've seen this Sticky Finger recipe a few different ... ...continue reading

Sour Cream Chicken

February 13, 2012 By: Lisacomment

This chicken is my favorite.  I love it, and I can't believe I haven't shared it yet.  Super old standby, but one that never fails.  My mom and grandma used to make this when I was a kid.  We'd eat it for Sunday dinner, one year for Christmas dinner, and my personal favorite was served cold on a picnic. One summer evening my family and I went to the Sundance Summer Plays up Provo canyon.  We were with another family.  Another family with a lot of ... ...continue reading

Chicken Enchilada Pasta

February 2, 2012 By: Lisa2 Comments

It was pretty darn tasty!  Really it was.  The pasta bake was made in honor of a neighbor who just delivered her 12th baby!  Twelve!  And she's still alive, and doing well.  Cute little nub of a baby.  Perfectly round little baby cheeks, and lots of dark hair.  She was being adored by lots of brothers and sisters the day I visited.   They all had huge smiles of pride over their new baby sister.  I'd say she was downright beautiful:)  And lucky ... ...continue reading

Tender Mercy Chili

January 11, 2012 By: Lisa2 Comments

Strange name I know it, but I am taking it from a talk by Elder David Bednar.  It was a talk given a few years ago during a session of my faiths annual General Conference.  Fantastic talk if you personally want my opinion, and describes this chili perfectly.   I am a true believer in Tender Mercies from a loving Heavenly Father.   I love this scripture that describes Tender Mercies.  “But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender ... ...continue reading

Street Tacos

January 9, 2012 By: Lisacomment

I love tacos.  Did you know, or have I told you?  I think I could eat them every day of my life, and be as happy as a bug in a rug.  I will admit though that the tacos I fix now for my family are quite a bit different than the ones my muther used to fix me when I was a kid.  You know the ones.  Hard taco shell, ground hamburger, shredded lettuce, orange cheese, and a few tomatoes.  Don't get me wrong.  I will eat one of these tacos too, ... ...continue reading
