Ogre Ear Soup

September 29, 2010 By: Lisa2 Comments

What a name.  My kidlets named it that a while back.  It makes them eat the soup like a wild bunch of piggies.  It’s one of those recipes that everyone seems to like.  Except James and I can’t go into that.  It’s gross.  But everyone except James loves this soup.  You’ll like it too.  I promise!  Get domestic today.  Make some yummy bread sticks and this soup and your family will love you forever and ever and ever.  Image eating ogre ears as you slurp down a tortilini.  That’s what they look like, and it will make you smile.  I hope you enjoy this soup from my dirty kitchen to yours!

Ogre Ear Soup
1 lb. sweet Italian sausage
2 cloves garlic minced
1 onion chopped
Brown and drain.  Add:
5 c. beef broth
1 c. water
1 c. chopped carrots
1/2 t. basil
1/2 t. oregano
3 T. parsley
1 qt. tomatoes chopped
8 oz. tomato sauce
1 pkg. frozen tortellini (any flavor)
Bring to a boil and simmer until carrots are tender and tortellini is done.

Yum! I made this for dinner today. The only thing I added was chunks of parmesan cheese just before I served it. Thanks for a great recipe.
