I am a Daring Baker

December 29, 2008 By: Lisa5 Comments

This month’s challenge is brought to us by the adventurous Hilda from Saffron and Blueberry and Marion from Il en Faut Peu Pour Etre Heureus.  They have chosen a French Yule Log by Flore from Florilege Gourmand.    I had to write that beginning stuff so I would be counted in the new secret society I have joined.  I have joined a new blogging group called The Daring Bakers.  It is full of secret combinations, and blood oaths.  I promise to not tell what we are baking for the month until the designated day.  So for December’s Daring Baker Challenge today is the day to reveal our beauties.  It is a Buche de Noel or French Yule Log.  Not your typical cake roll thingy, but a 18 page recipe. (I kid you not.  Talk about intimidating.)  It was dang fun.  James and the kids have anxiously awaited as I have assembled and taken pictures.  The taste was delish too.  It has many a layer.  Chocolate mousse, an almond cake layer, a creme brulee layer, a praline crisp layer, a chocolate ganache layer, and a chocolate glaze.  I decided I must truly be a daring baker (even thought there wasn’t a whole lot of baking in this recipe.)  The recipe for this months challenge is found at  http://plaisirgourmand.perso.cegetel.net/index.html .  (It’s all in French.)  The hosts of this Daring Baker Challenge were:  Hilda of   http:saffronandblueberry.blogspot.com/ and Marion of http://ilenfautpeupour.canalblog.com. (This is in French too!)  Thanks for the fun time ladies, and if any family will come visit me I’ll save you a slice.  Love your guts!!  Lisa

Well done! I’m very glad your family enjoyed it (not a good time when you put so much work into something and then they don’t right?) You are now (via trial by fire) a bona fide Daring Baker!
